A Day In Pulicat Lake

It’s almost two months back . When I completed biggest responsibility related my profession in #2013 and i prepared to leave chennai and i want to thank my team with a small party. I’m just thinking for good place and budget. In reverse my colleagues asked me ” We are planning for team outing, we want you to join with us ” and they told me you are leaving us. so we want to give party to you :)

Then I said yes and asked everyone where are we planning to go ?

Everyone told let’s go to pondi or we will spend a day in MGM theme park but suddenly small tone from corner said that ” Shall we go to Pulicat ” I will make arrangements for everyone. Even i was attracted these suggestion because small story behind these and we decided spend time Pulicat lake.

We are almost 12 members and we started in two vehicles from Nungambakkam to Pulicat via Minjur.  Minjur is small mandal (Upper grade village) which see high growth in Real Estate and Industrialization due to nearest ports like Chennai and Ennore Port

We reached minjur and we went to one of our Employee (Harish and saran) Houses and they prepared  Prawns and seven varieties of  sea foods and we finished lunch and we went to straightly to Pulicat.

Here my friends arranged short trip in to sea which is near to sriharikota space center. we taken small fishing ships and we reached to Sona boat which anchored near to sea shore.

Dutch occupied Pulicat and their culture was vanished but still their buildings are existed in these areas. Here many people follows christianism.

The cemetery built in 1600 has survived the rigors of time and is now maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India.

Pulicat has one more special attraction Bird Sanctuary which attracts more than 20 k Visitors and here you can see Greater Flamingos

I studied in Nellore for  four years and heard many times about Pulicat lake but i have never visited these place. But now i got chance to visit pulicat and enjoyed alot with different sea foods.

Pulicat is not like pondicherry because here Dutch culture is completely demolished due to dravidian politics and some french people moved to Pondi where they can feel safe. Pulicat is tourist place for fishing and boating.

we spent almost 2 hours riding on the waves near to sea shore and  boat racing with others. I love these place and i enjoyed alot.

Light house is small place for campfire and chit chat for small parties.The old lighthouse is located at the opposite bank of the lake.

Ps: You can see Sriharikota Space center near to pulicat with proper permissions from Space Center PRO

Location

About 60 kilometers to the north of Chennai, the town attracts tourists from far and wide.

Food

Pack your food and carry it with you.

I spent lonely walking on the sea shores and believe me you can feel you are only person on these Island.

A fort was built by the Dutch here in the year 1609, which was for long their principal settlement on the Coromandel Coast.    It passed from the hands of the Dutch to the British. It became part of the Madras Presidency, which in later years became Madras state in independent India and later renamed Tamil Nadu in 1968.

How to reach Pulicat 

By Car

The journey is 54 Kms from CMBT (Koyambedu) and  the road is good so it takes just over an hour to get here. Return taxi fare is Rs 2,000 approx.

Next day I moved to #Bangalore but Chennai gave me unique experiences with different mindset of peoples. I love to eat Chicken biriyani at Jakob’s Kitchen and Sangeeta Hotel near to Nungambakkam.

I love these place but iam sure i will visit these place again :)
